UPDATE June 26, 2012: Event organizers have notified us today that July’s Tampon Tuesday is CANCELLED.
In Canada, hunger isn’t about a food shortage, it’s about poverty. For women, the issue goes beyond the grocery bill to other basic needs. That’s the thinking that prompted a group of women in Toronto’s business community to donate more than food. They were concerned that the high cost of feminine hygiene products could compromise food budgets for women and their families, so they took action. Now, they meet regularly at Tampon Tuesday, a monthly social and networking opportunity that benefits Daily Bread Food Bank with donations of feminine hygiene products and cash.
Meeting at Jack Astor’s at 133 John St. (at Adelaide), the women enjoy appetizers, drinks, raffles and an opportunity to make or renew social and business contacts. Entry is a box of feminine hygiene products. All are welcome to attend. More info can be found at www.tampontuesday.com.
The next Tampon Tuesday is Tuesday July 24, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 pm.
