Torontonians stepped up once again to support their neighbours through the Purolator Tackle Hunger® Red Bag campaign, raising nearly 30,000 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank.
“For more than 20 years, our partnership with Purolator has been essential in helping us meet the growing need,” said Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank. “With Daily Bread projected to reach 4 million client visits in 2025—the highest on record and nearly five times pre-pandemic levels—this year’s Red Bag campaign has never been more vital. We are deeply thankful to Purolator’s couriers, volunteers, and the many Torontonians who participated this year.”
On September 13, volunteers delivered thousands of signature red bags across Toronto neighbourhoods. Over the week, residents filled them with non-perishable items and, on September 20, left the bags on their doorsteps for collection. Purolator couriers then picked up the full bags and delivered the food to Daily Bread. The sight of red bags lined up across the city was a powerful reminder of what community can achieve together.
“For the seventh year in a row, Torontonians came through for their neighbours in a big way during our Purolator Tackle Hunger Red Bag,” said Steve Scorca, Senior Manager Operations, Purolator. “It’s incredible to see our trucks arrive at Daily Bread full of food, knowing this effort has such a huge impact. We’re proud to stand alongside Daily Bread in tackling hunger.”
With client visits continuing to rise, the generosity shown through the Red Bag campaign helps ensure food is available for everyone who turns to Daily Bread’s member agencies across Toronto. As our Thanksgiving Drive continues until October 31, we invite Torontonians to keep the momentum going and help us reach our goal of $4.4 million and 225,000 pounds of food.
Together we can ensure no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving, donate today.
