The CPKC Holiday Train once again rode the rails into Toronto, bringing an evening of light, music, and generosity to our community. The cross-continent tour—which has raised money, food, and awareness for local food banks for the last 27 years—pulled into the CPKC Junction Railyard on Saturday, November 29, decked out in festive lights!
Prior to the train’s arrival, Santa made his grand entrance, greeting excited children, posing for photos, and spreading plenty of holiday magic. Hundreds of families gathered early to watch the spectacular 1,000-foot-long train arrive, and enjoyed live performances from Juno-nominee Jade Eagleson and country artist Teigen Gayse. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow also joined the festivities, warmly greeting attendees and enjoying the holiday atmosphere!
A heartfelt thank you goes to CPKC for their generous $15,000 donation, and to Box 12 Association, from the Toronto Fire Services for serving sweet treats and hot chocolate—a welcome comfort on a chilly evening.
Thanks to the kindness of attendees, Daily Bread raised an additional $4,631—a 35% increase from last year—and collected 2,004 pounds of food. With every dollar or pound of food equaling one meal, these contributions will provide over 21,500 meals for the more than one in ten Torontonians who rely on food banks to make ends meet.
The Holiday Train brought more than lights and music—it brought people together in generosity and gratitude. And for that, we’re truly thankful.
