Daily Bread Food Bank is proud to host the first mayoral debate of the 2026 election, bringing together candidates, community members and advocates to discuss some of the most urgent issues facing our city.
Held in partnership with community organizations across Toronto, the debate will take place on Monday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET at Daily Bread’s headquarters, located at 191 New Toronto Street. Moderated by Daily Bread CEO Neil Hetherington, the event will challenge candidates to outline their plans to address Toronto’s affordability crisis, including food insecurity, housing affordability and poverty.
The debate comes as Toronto continues to face record levels of need. Today, 1 in 10 Torontonians relies on a food bank, and annual food bank visits reached an all-time high of 4.1 million last year — a more than 340 per cent increase compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Stay tuned for additional details, including participating candidates and broadcast information.
