On Saturday, July 31, the Honourable John McKay, M.P. for Scarborough-Guildwood, will host a food drive in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Global Kingdom Parking Lot at 1250 Markham Road, Scarborough.

Event Description
The Food Sort Challenge is a semi-annual test of speed and accuracy where nearly 200 people race each other – and the clock – to see which team can sort and pack 3,500 pounds of food in 90 minutes or less! It’s a fun way to bring your team together while giving back to the community!
Your corporate team will compete against companies from across the GTA while our DJ spins great tunes. The food you sort will be delivered across Toronto to 175 food banks and food programs.

The Blakes Law Firm Challenge is a student-led fundraising event taking place from November 26 to December 7. For the past 12 years, Blakes Law Firm has organized this incredible initiative, raising over $2 million in support of Daily Bread. This year, 28 law firms from across the city will compete against each other with a goal to raise $190,000, in an effort to fight hunger in Toronto!
You too, can offer your support. Click here to donate to Blakes Law Firm Challenge and help raise vital funds for Daily Bread’s food programs. Every dollar you give will help provide meals to adults, seniors and children struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Monetary donations also go to help purchase fresh food such as produce, dairy, and eggs, which make up one-third of the food we distribute.

As part of Daily Bread’s Spring Drive, hundreds of volunteers will be sorting and packing food donations at Daily Bread Food Bank to support meal programs and member agency food banks across Toronto.


Event Description
Since 1999, the Holiday Train has raised more than CAD $14.5 million and 4.3 million pounds of food for North American food banks. Everything raised in a community stays in that community. In addition, CP makes a donations at each stop.
CP operates in over 1,100 communities, and their 12,000 employees are very proud of the Holiday Train program. They understand that hunger is an issue that can, and does, impact our neighbours. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Holiday Train. Over the years the program has gained a tremendous following, and CP is proud to continue this tradition.
The CP Holiday Train will be making a stop in Toronto, on November 29, from 8:30-9:00pm at 750 Runnymede Road in support of Daily Bread. This event is free of charge, however, everyone is encouraged to bring a food or monetary donation for our neighbours in need. Check out CP’s Healthy Donations page for a list of suggested items.
Come with friends and family and enjoy music, hot chocolate and hear a few words of thanks from Daily Bread CEO, Neil Hetherington, as well as from Councillor Sarah Doucette. Please note that the stop lasts approximately 30 minutes.

On December 1st, YOU can help fight hunger in Toronto!
Select Sobeys stores across the GTA will be collecting food and fund donations in support of Daily Bread Food Bank. Here is how you can contribute:
- Donate on check-out and double your impact: 100% of all cash donations on check-out will come straight to Daily Bread, to help us purchase fresh, nutritious food for the wonderful people we serve. PLUS, all donations made on December 1st, will be matched by Sobeys Inc. Better Food Fund, up to $250,000.
- Food bank bags: Purchase a pre-packaged Sobeys food bank bag of our most-needed food items ($5 and $10 options available) and drop it off in one of our yellow bins stationed in-store.
Be sure to stop by one of the following Sobeys locations on December 1st, from 11:00am to 4:00pm and help us deliver nourishing food to our neighbours in need this holiday season.

The wonderful BT personalities will be broadcasting live from Yonge-Dundas Square, to raise much needed funds in support of our food programs. Daily Bread is proud to be partnering with CBC Toronto once again, for this year’s Sounds of the Season – an annual campaign to raise funds and food for GTA food banks. Last year, with the incredible support from the community, Sounds of the Season raised an astounding $676,936 and collected over 27,000 pounds of food for our neighbours in need.

Walmart will be running the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. Fundraising campaign in their stores this spring. Customers can fight hunger by rounding up their donations at the cash register and Walmart will generously match donations up to $2,000 per store. Since 1999, Canstruction Toronto has been uniting the local design community in a unique food-raiser that gives back to people struggling with hunger: a canned sculptures competition. These unique and cool structures are in exhibit to the public at the Toronto Dominion Centre, downtown Toronto and eventually will be deconstructed and all the of the food will brought back to Daily Bread Food Bank and distributed to people in need over the summer months. The awards night is May 15, but public viewing of the exhibits runs from May 15 – 18. Be sure to check them out!
