Pride Month is a time to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, honour the people who have paved the way for progress, and recognize the work still needed to ensure everyone can live with safety, dignity, and belonging.
Rooted in protest and community care, Pride is more than a celebration. It is a reminder that equity is built through action — by challenging discrimination, supporting inclusive spaces, and standing alongside people who continue to face barriers because of who they are or who they love.
At Daily Bread Food Bank, we know that food insecurity does not affect all communities equally. People who experience systemic barriers are often more likely to face poverty and hunger, and many members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community continue to navigate challenges rooted in stigma, exclusion, and inequity.
Our vision is a city where everyone can access the food and support they need with dignity. That means working alongside community partners, supporting inclusive food programs, and continuing to listen and learn from the people and communities we serve.
This Pride Month, we encourage our community to celebrate, reflect, and take action. Attend local Pride events, support 2SLGBTQIA+-led organizations, learn about the history of Pride, and help create spaces where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and valued.
