Community Champion Rallies Neighbourhood for Those in Need

Last fall, Stephanie decided to raise her hand and become a Daily Bread Community Champion, rallying her community to come together and host a food drive.

Unsure of the response she would receive, she took 75 bags and thought she would do her best to get people invovled. After reaching out and delivering 75 bags to her neighbours, she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. So much food was donated that they filled an SUV and a van, bringing almost 600 lbs of food to our Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Drive!

As a mother, Stephanie is especially sympathetic to the struggles of families who are trying to provide basic needs like food and shelter for their children and can’t imagine people in her community, not having access to their right to food.

Not only was this experience an incredible outpouring of support for Daily Bread but it also brought her street together for a positive cause, so much so they decided to do it again at Christmas as a street!

Since then, Stephanie has joined the Junction Residents Association and they have become actively involved in giving back to the community as a group of volunteers. Together, they worked hard to collect even more food this season for our Spring Drive-Thru Food Drive, donating over 1000 lbs. of food for our community members experiencing food insecurity.

On behalf of the entire Daily Bread team, the volunteers, and most importantly the clients we serve, thank you for raising your hand to become a Community Champion, Stephanie! We are so grateful for your support!
