Daily Bread CEO Becomes a Blue Jay for the Day!

August 5, 2021

On Sunday, August 1st, Neil Hetherington, Daily Bread CEO, was invited to throw the first pitch at the Toronto Blue Jays Game against the Kansas City Royals.

With the Jays not having played at the Rogers Centre since September of 2019, the energy at the Rogers Centre was electric, and we are honoured to have been a part of their homecoming weekend.

While the stands may have been empty for the last year and a half, the Rogers Centre was full of support for Daily Bread Food Bank.

This past April the Rogers Centre opened their doors, giving us the opportunity to store an additional 300,000 lbs of food that was distributed across Toronto!

Not only did they enable us to store more food, but at our Spring Drive-Thru, they helped us reach our goal of collecting 25,000 in a single day by allowing the public to drop food off food donations at the Rogers Centre if they couldn’t make it to our 191 New Toronto Street warehouse.

We want to give a very special THANK YOU to our friends at Rogers – we couldn’t do what we do without your incredible partnership in our fight against hunger!
