Give back through the Purolator Red Bag campaign

On Saturday, September 13, a legion of volunteers will be blanketing multiple Toronto neighbourhoods with 25,000 empty red bags, ready to be filled with food for people experiencing hunger this Thanksgiving season.  

This is the seventh annual Purolator Red Bag Campaign in support of Daily Bread Food Bank, and part of Purolator’s nationwide Tackle Hunger program. 

This year we’re targeting 50,000 pounds in food donations so we can help set Thanksgiving tables at a time when food bank use continues to be at a record high.  

Here’s how the campaign works:  

• If you live in East York, Leaside North, Leaside South, Corso Italia and area, Roncesvalles North, Riverdale North of Danforth, Mount Pleaseant East, South Etobicoke and Roncesvalles South, look out for our amazing volunteers dropping off Purolator Red Bags by your door on Saturday, September 13.  

• Over the next week, fill up the bag with some of our most-needed items: canned fish, canned fruits, veggies and tomatoes, oatmeal and nut butters. 

• Leave the full bag on your front step Saturday, September 20 by 9:00am, for Daily Bread volunteers and Purolator drivers to pick up and deliver to the Daily Bread warehouse. 

• If you miss our pickup deadline, you can drop off your bag with nonperishable food items at your nearest fire hall.  

• If you don’t live in one of these neighbourhoods but you’d like to help, you can donate online.

On Saturday, September 20, assist Purolator drivers as they collect the filled bags and deliver the donations to the Daily Bread warehouse.

You can volunteer for one day, or register for both to make an even bigger impact!
