CBC Sounds of the Season: A Celebration of Community and Kindness

Join us for an exciting and festive CBC Sounds of the Season Community Event in support of Daily Bread Food Bank and North York Harvest Food Bank.

Meet some of your favourite CBC personalities, including Metro Morning host, Ismaila Alfa and TV Reporter, Farrah Merali, visit the CBC Kids activity tent, and get your holiday photo taken at the photo booth!

Our friends at SKETCH will be on site offering family-friendly art activities, live performances and much more. SKETCH is a community arts enterprise that engages young people who live homeless or on the margins in the transformative power of the arts.

Nonperishable food donations are welcome. Our most needed items include canned fish, canned fruits / veggies, canned tomatoes, nut butters, and oatmeal.

DJPogi
Multidisciplinary artist DJ Pogi started djing in 2010 in Bermuda, where they are from and learned how to MC and DJ. Having graduated from OCAD University in Art and Design, Pogi also paints. Sometimes you may even see them live paint while DJing. Pogi plays to crowds and loves music that celebrates every occasion.

Ashley Thomas
Multidisciplinary artist, painter, facilitator Ashley Thomas is a young, Black Biracial, Bisexual Woman with Type II Bipolar Disorder from Toronto. She has coined herself as “The BiFecta”. She is a a winner of the SKETCH Black Artist Spotlight Scholarship and the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre Queer Emerging Artist Award in 2021. Instagram: @the_bifecta

Martin Gomes
Martin Gomes (he/they) is an Afro/Latine musician & poet born & based in downtown Toronto. He currently works as a freelance artist with a myriad of different non-profit arts organizations as an artist facilitator giving youth a platform to speak for and express themselves through poetry, beatboxing, and storytelling. As a performer, he’s had the privilege of performing at TIFF, Scotiabank Arena, Wrigley Field, Nuit Blanche, and Dundas Square. His hope as an artist is to advocate for authenticity, empathy, and intention by example; to inspire people to be more intentional with themselves & the world around them.”

Ben E. Wood
Ben E. Wood is a musician and community artist whose short-and-lively songs are rooted in mental health advocacy, creative writing and the tradition of expressing joy and sadness in one breath. Ben hosts the weekly jam at SKETCH and has just wrapped up an online collaboration program for youth called Dear Ailment.

MOM X W¥FE
MOM X W¥FE is a lifestyle and entertainment brand emerging from Downtown Toronto. The brand consists of two sides, Clothing and Music. MOM – Jane Doe Smith and W¥FE – KUTTHROAT KLEO use upcycled materials and pieces to  create Street Fashion.   MOM X W¥FE bring cultural influences from each of their unique musical journeys. They create new musical and lyrical concepts through experimentation. Their style of music covers a wide range of genres and incorporates well rounded cinematic production.
