Daily Bread’s Holiday Drive officially ended on January 3rd and the results are in! Thanks to your generous donations over the holiday, we have raised $1.5 million and 1.1 million pounds of food. Our goals were $1.2 million and 1.2 million pounds of food. With the financial goal exceeding $1.2 million, this money will allow us to distribute food, support food security programs and buy food over and above what is donated.
Last year Daily Bread spent over a million dollars purchasing food to make sure we had enough of our most needed food items along with fresh, perishable food (such as eggs and yogurt) to send out to the 170 member agencies that your donations help support. Food donations and financial donations also help support our Food Services Training Program, where trainees learn valuable job skills and help make some of the over 150,000 meals that are sent out to hostels, shelters and drop in programs across the city.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the people, groups and companies who organized events large and small to help support us, from the downtown law firm challenge to the public school drives. A special thank you to our media supporters including CBC Toronto, Citytv, Breakfast Television and AM680 News.
Thank you all for your support! Your generous donations mean we can continue to provide food for the next few winter months.
