Join the Give 30 Movement

May 7, 2021

Small acts. Big impact.

One Ramadan years ago, Ziyaad Mia realized that he was saving money from fasting because he was not having lunch, coffee and snacks during the day and he decided to use the opportunity to help others.

From this simple idea, Give 30 was born as a grassroots initiative to fight hunger in 2012.

Inspired by the spirit of social solidarity, Give 30 mobilizes communities in Canada, the United States and Australia to support those in need during the month of Ramadan.  Today, the campaign supports 19 organizations and has raised more than $1 million.

Ramadan may be over, but the spirit of the Give 30 campaign is felt all year round, and this year the campaign runs until August 31!

Everyone, regardless of faith or background, can join the Give 30 movement by donating or making small sacrifices such as cutting back on nights out, lattes, or snacks.

The simple act of giving something up and giving back to the community will have an enormous impact on families and individuals struggling to put food on the table. For every dollar you save and donate, Daily Bread is able to provide one nourishing meal to someone in need.

Here are three easy ways to save and donate:

  • Make a meal at home

Plan ahead to prepare your lunches and dinners at home.

  • Make your own coffee

Skip your daily coffee run and make your own at home for a fraction of the price.

  • Unsubscribe to unused memberships

Examine your monthly memberships and cancel any subscriptions you are not using.
