Val's Story

December 6, 2020

When Val and his family came to Canada last year to care for an ill family member, his hope was that he could support his family, while creating a new life for them.

Unfortunately, not long after they arrived, the COVID-19 pandemic hit Toronto, and Val and his family began to struggle.

Val’s youngest son was born prematurely, and still requires a lot of medical care. That, along with the cost of diapers, wipes, and caring for his other children, meant that they had to rely on their emergency savings much sooner than they ever imagined.

In need of support, Val reached out to Daily Bread Food Bank, and our Information and Referral Services team was able to put him in contact with one of our Member Agencies, Soso World Ministries.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Val was able to turn to the food bank to help him provide nourishing meals for his family.

“I am so grateful for the support that I have received from Daily Bread, Garth Soso, and Soso World Ministries. Because of all of you, I can provide food for my family, and that is incredible.”

Thank you for changing the lives of families like Val’s in so many ways. Your generosity in these challenging times is providing food and hope, for the future.
